As of October 16, 2007, Longshoremen Port Workers, Truckers and others at the Port of Wilmington are the first workers in the nation to enroll in the Department of Homeland Security's (DSH) Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program. This program is designed to ensure that any individual who has unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities and vessels has received a thorough background check and is not a security threat. It is a requirement that anyone entering the port MUST have a TWIC card. The card is valid for 5 years and the cost is $132.50. To obtain a TWIC card you must provide 2 forms of I. D. , and payment which must be in the form of a Credit Card, Cashier's Check or Money Order made payable to Lockheed Martin.
